Join us as we kick off our Day of the Dead celebrations at Beaches Sandbox with coffee and a special presentation by Christian Clay, Trade Commissioner, Cultural Attaché, and Head of International Cooperation at the Mexican Consulate General in Toronto.



Christian will speak about Mexican heritage, and the significance of The Day of the Dead tradition.

Christian Clay, Trade Commissioner, Cultural Attaché, and Head of International Cooperation at the Mexican Consulate General in Toronto,

Christian Clay is the Trade Commissioner, Cultural Attaché, and Head of International Cooperation at the Mexican Consulate General in Toronto, where he arrived in October 2023.

He is a career diplomat with the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His previous roles include Deputy Consul General in Detroit, Deputy Ambassador to the Philippines, Trade Commissioner in Australia, and Head of Commercial Affairs in China. He has also worked at the Mexican embassies in Singapore and Canada.

In Mexico City, he served as Deputy Director for Hemispheric Affairs and Director of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Christian holds a Master's degree from Georgetown University in International Security Studies and a Bachelor's from Colorado College in Political Economy.

The Beaches Sandbox Financial Assistance Program is put in place to allow those who otherwise could not afford to participate, access to all programs offered at the centre.
