Youth Food + After-School

Create welcoming time for young people to learn, contribute and belong.

Why this matters

Time outside school can be more than a schedule to fill. Young people benefit from safe, welcoming experiences where they can build confidence, practise practical skills, form positive relationships and contribute to the community.

What Beaches Sandbox does

Through Club Sandwich Jr., young volunteers work together in the Sandbox Kitchen to prepare food for community distribution, practise teamwork and kitchen skills, and see how their effort connects to something larger than themselves.

Verified evidence

  • 25,000+ sandwiches made to date by 450 youth volunteers (cumulative through 2024/25)
  • 12–15 youth volunteers participating weekly (2024/25 Annual Report)

What approved support may make possible

Approved support may contribute to ingredients, facilitation, kitchen access and program delivery. This page does not create a unit cost or restricted fund.
